What is Veggie Luv Club?

Veggie Luv Club is a produce club where the club members can order fresh produce at wholesale prices.   

Anyone can join VLC and buy wholesale produce.  There are two types of memberships, Basic and VIP.   

A Basic Membership is free.  A Basic members can order our most popular produce package, the combo package for $30. 

A VIP membership is $10 a year and is good for one year from the date you join.  A VIP member can order from many different types of produce packages.  They can choose a just fruit package, just veggie package and/or the combo package.  A VIP member can also purchase individual produce items.  Plus a VIP member receives a $5 discount off of the combo produce package making it only $25.

How do I join?

It is easy. Click here to join the club and pay the VIP membership fee of $10.  Your VIP membership is good for one year from the date you join.  VIP members can order from many different packages and individual items.

Where do I pick my order up at?

Pick up is on a Saturday each month at the Hernando County Fairgrounds located at 6436 Broad Street Brooksville, FL 34601.

Time of pick up is from 9am to 10am.  You must be at pick up by 10am! If you do not show up, your order will be donated to a shelter. 

We can not save orders for you and we can not stay late. The Fairgrounds has graciously allowed us to use their property for pick up and we must abide by their rules to be done by a set time.

If you can not pick up yourself, you can send someone to pick up for you just make sure they have the email confirmation for your order.

If you have an emergency such as a broken down car, contact us as soon as possible.

Can I decide what I get?

In the combo package, you will receive 10 to 12  different types of items which usually includes some type of lettuce, potato and apple. What produce you get will depend on what is in season.  We focus on things that the typical family uses and not on exotic type items.

Here is an example of  items in a typical combo package:

  • 5 lbs of potatoes
  • 3 lbs of apples
  • 3 lbs of onions
  • 1 lb of carrots
  • Romaine lettuce
  • 1 package of grape tomatoes
  • 6 lemons
  • 1 lb of mini sweet peppers
  • 1 lbs of kiwi
  • 1 lbs of pears
  • 4 avocados
  • 6 cucumbers

Can I try it out before joining?

Yes, it is free to join as a Basic member which will allow you to buy the combo package for $30. 

Once you have tried us out and see the great value, you can join as a VIP club member and be able to purchase the combo package for $25. Plus, VIP members can order from many different packages and individual items.

Can I cancel my membership?

A VIP membership automatically renews each year on your renewal date.  If you wish to not renew, login to your VLC account and go to your account settings to turn off the renewal. 

You will receive an email a few days before the renewal to remind you that the renewal is coming up.

Where do you get the produce?

We buy the produce  at the Wholesale Produce market in Tampa.

On the day of pick up, We arrive at the wholesale market about 1 am and shop and load vehicles with the produce and arrive at the Hernando County Fairgrounds between 7 and 8 am.

I missed the pick up! What now?

So sorry you missed your pick up.   Unfortunately, your order was donated to a local shelter.  When you join the club and when you placed your order, you agreed to the pick up rules which state that the order MUST be picked up between 9 and 10 am and that failure to pick up means you forfeit your order and the order is donated.

Our agreement with the Hernando County Fairgrounds does not allow us to be there longer than our timeframe.

This is pershiable food we are dealing with and we do not have the space to store extra orders for people.

If you can not make pick up, please make arrangements to send one to pick up for you.

What is the cost to be a club member?

The VIP club membership fee is $10.  A VIP member can choose from many different produce packages such as the combo package, Just Veggies, Just fruit, and Just Staples.  A VIP membership is good for one year from the date you join.

A Basic membership is FREE. A Basic member can only order the most popular package, the combo for $30.  

How much is the produce packages?

Our most popular package is the combo package which is 10 to 12 different produce items which is enough for a family of 4 to 6.  A VIP member can order the combo package for $25.  A Basic member can order the combo package for $30.

A VIP member can order other produce packages such as:

  • Just Fruit package (3 to 4 different fruits) — $10
  • Just Veggie package (3 to 4 different vegetables) — $10
  • Just Staples package (5lbs of potatoes, 3lbs of onions, 3lbs of apples, and lettuce) — $15

A VIP member can also purchase individual produce items such as:

  • Spinach
  • Kale
  • Collards
  • Eggs
  • Dried Fruit
  • Sundried Tomatoes
  • Spring Mix
  • Herbs
  • Potatoes

 

What comes in a combo package?

You get 10 to 12 different types of produce in a combo package.  We try to get common staple items like potatoes, lettuce, apples, onions, etc. and then fill in with things that are in season and a good price.   

Here is an example of the items:

  • March 2024

    • 3 pounds of apples
    • 5 pounds of potatoes
    • 1 head of cabbage
    • 1 pound of mini sweet peppers
    • 1 pound of cucumbers
    • 1 Strawberry onion
    • 2 bunches of Kale
    • 2 pounds of green beans
    • 1 pkg of grape tomatoes
    • 1 pint of blueberries
    • 1 lb of Asparagus

    • 1 pineapple

You got all of that in one order for $25 as a VIP member of the Veggie Luv Club!

How does pick up work?

 

 Pick up is at the Hernando County Fairgrounds located at 6436 Broad Street Brooksville, FL 34601.

When you arrive, you will pull into the Fairgrounds follow the Veggie Luv Club signs.  You will remain in your car and stay in the pick up line. When you approach the check in station, have your order confirmation email up on your phone to show the volunteer.  You will get a number placed on your windshield at the check in station to show how many orders you are to receive.  

Next you will drive through the pick up area stopping at each pick up station. Please have your trunk open so the volunteers can place the food into your trunk. Please have a box or basket for the produce to be placed into.

When it is time to drive forward to the next station, please drive slowly and watch for the direction of the volunteer.

Once you have finished at the last station, the number will be removed from your windshield and you will be directed to pull out of the pick up area.

 

Do I have to order every month?

No! You can order a few times a year or every month. It is up to you! 

Sometimes people are out of town or have things going on and can’t order that month. That’s okay. Just order when ever you would like. 

Can I volunteer to help?

In order to help, you must be a current VLC member and be ordering that month.  So many of our VLC members love helping and we get many request to help us at pick up that  we currently have a waiting list for volunteers.  If you would like to be added to the wait list, please email us at info@veggieluvclub.com

Is the produce local or organic?

 Most of the produce we buy is from farms within the United States.  Sometimes we do get produce from other countries like Mexico or Canada, especially if that item is not in season in the United States or can’t be grown locally. 

Occassionally, we will get organic items if they are a good price but that is NOT the focus of the club.
